Baltimore Rises to Season 4 Winning Bracket

Baltimore Orioles: 4
California Angels: 3

WP: B.J. Ryan
LP: Scott Schoeneweis
Date Played: 6/5/2005

Gabby Hartnett
It was high fives all around as the Orioles defeated the Angels today in extra innings, off an RBI double from Ken Singleton to score Frank Robinson.
Baltimore scores the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning, to defeat the Angels and move on to a winning bracket for the first time in Celestial history.

MVP: Buddy Groom

It took long enough to get there, but the Orioles have finally made it into a winning bracket.

After being banished for the entire Season 2, for losing the most AL games in the losing bracket in Season 1, the Orioles returned in Season 3 with a small amount of retribution.

An extra inning nail biter between the Orioles and Angels, ended in triumph for the Orioles when Ken Singleton smashed a double to drive in Frank Robinson.

"Feels good," admitted Singleton after the game. "To know that in Season 4, we will play with the big boys like the Yankees and Red Sox, will be a great honor. We will be ready for them and we will surprise more than a few seam heads, I can assure you that."

Other notes:

  • Buddy Groom won game MVP for pitching 2.66 scoreless innings, in a tight ball game out of the bullpen.

  • Rod Carew continues his celestial tear, by going 3 for 4 in this game.

  • Brian Roberts spanked a two run double in the third inning off Mike Witt, one of the key at bats in the game.
